Dimapur. Sep. 22 (EMN): Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) celebrated its 10th anniversary at the residence of its treasurer in Indisen, Dimapur, on September 22.

Speaking on the occasion, DAYO president, Tia Longchar, stated that the organisation had undergone bad and good times to achieve what it is today and also highlighted on the humanitarian works and activities carried out by the organisation.

Longchar has particularly pointed out its accomplishment in assisting Ao entrepreneurs in particular and Nagas in general and some challenges it had endured while executing them. 

In a short speech, the vice president of Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), Imtisangba Aier, said DAYO has led the Ao people in Dimapur with pride and courage.

“We are all human; be humble when you achieve success and retrospect on the failure as well in order to move forward,” he said.

Reminding that that Ao tribe is called pioneers, he asked the gathering if today’s generation fits the bill and advised them to stand on the truth and inculcate the habit of punctuality as punctuality leads to discipline.

He urged the Ao people to retrospect and forgive each other to regain the past glory. He further urged the gathering to focus on education and equipped themselves on all fronts and move forward with unity.

Also speaking on the occasion, president of Watsu Telongjem Dimapur, Aoinla, stated that DAYO has done a lot for the welfare of the people and encouraged the gathering to give importance on Ao dialect. She cautioned that if the mother tongue becomes extinct, the entire tribe too would extinct.

A brief history of DAYO was shared by Limatangit Lemtur and concluded with a vote of thank delivered by vice president of DAYO, Imkongsungskum.
