DAYO announces ‘Nagaland for Peace and Harmony’ concert

Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) is organising a free concert on the theme ‘Nagaland for Peace and Harmony’ on August 6 from 6:30 pm onwards at DDSC stadium in Dimapur to commemorate its 10 years of existence and also to celebrate Tsüngremmung festival.
M SONIC, a band from Kolkata, will be headlining the event along with various local artistes.
This was announced by DAYO President Tiatemsu Longchar during a press conference held at DAYO treasurer residence, Indisen village Dimapur on July 30.
Longchar stated that Tsüngremmung is a time of thanksgiving for abundant blessings with anticipation of good harvest.
DAYO hopes that it is due time for the society to reap a harvest of peace and mutual harmony among different communities.
While highlighting the reason for organising the free concert, Longchar said that the DAYO motto is “unity and justice,” and that the goal is to foster unity not only within the Ao community but also among various tribes and communities.
He said, one should strive for justice in society as it is difficult for one to live without justice.
Believing DAYO as the facilitator of peace, unity and harmony, Longchar said the concert is made free so that everyone can come and join the celebration of unity.
The Co-convenor, Chitenlemba Imsong informed that along with M SONIC band, various local artistes like Tiameren Aier , Vinika Yepthomi, Samuel Konyak, Projection Crew, Coloured Keys, DGP Band and Mahila Band will share the stage.
During the concert, limited table reservations will also be available while various food stalls will be open.
The organisers also informed that in continuation of the celebration, DAYO in collaboration with Ao Students Union Dimapur (ASUD) will also organise poetry slam and painting competition on August 4. DAYO informed that the criteria for poetry slam competition would be under graduate students. Interested students have been asked to submit a video and script along with details while the poem should be a 14 line sonnet and a video not exceeding 3 minutes.
The last date of registration for poetry slam is August 3. For further details one can reach at asud.org@gmail.com.
While for painting competition scheduled to be held on August 4, students from classes 9 to 12 can participate. Participants have been requested to bring their own painting equipments with a canvas size of 10×12 inches and must report at Cornerstone higher secondary school, Duncan Basti Dimapur by 2:30 pm.
The winners for both categories will be cash prize of INR 10,000 for first, INR 5000 for second and INR 3000 for third prize respectively.
