Kohima, March 28 (EMN): The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) today adopted a resolution regarding construction of fence on the Indo-Myanmar border in the state of Nagaland.

On March 23 last, legislators have expressed grave concern over the construction of fence along the international boundary between Myanmar and India in Pangsha area by the Myanmar government, and the following day, the state assembly introduced a resolution in this connection.

The NLA resolved to reach out and appeal to the government of India to impress upon its Myanmar counterpart to permanently drop the project of construction of fencing on the Indo-Myanmar border in the state of Nagaland with a view to continuing the cordial and fraternal relations amongst the Nagas living on both sides of the border.

The fourth sitting of the ongoing 15th session of the 12th NLA on Tuesday also saw the passing of two government bills. These include The Nagaland Co-operative Societies Bill 2017 and The Nagaland Appropriation Acts (Repeal) Bill 2017.

Speaker Imtiwapang Aier informed that no notice for amendment to the two bills was received. With no member of the House seeking clarification to the bills, the House passed the same by voice vote.

During the proceedings of the day, administrative reports for the following departments were tabled: Roads & Bridges, National Highways, PHED, NRE, Veterinary, Science & Technology, Art & Culture, Youth Resources & Sports, Mechanical Engineering, NSMDC, Election, Evaluation and Economics & Statistics.
