Kohima, Nov. 21 (EMN): With an aim to identify potential darters and to facilitate them to participate at national and international levels, the Fun Tree Crew (FTC) is conducting the second edition of ‘Darts Masters 2020’on December 12 at Vivid Lounge in Kohima.
Briefing media persons on Saturday, members of the FTC informed that they decided to make the competition as an annual event after the success of the first edition in 2019.
Event Director Thejakhrietuo Kire said that this year’s edition would be limited only to organisers and participants due the pandemic situation. He added that all safety protocols issued by the authorities will be maintained during the competition.
Of many games and sports, the crew decided to conduct dart tournament as they felt the sport has always been sidelined. The crew intends to take the sports to next level.
Event Secretary Oto Angami said the competition is being organised with an aim to promote the sport and to identify potential darters who could later represent the state at the national level and even participate at the international level.
With the success of the first edition, the crew is expecting the second edition to be bigger and grandeur, giving opportunity and platform to young darters, Angami added.
The FTC started as a non-political and non-profit organisation; the members are dedicated to promoting social events and sports, and to foster and encourage the spirit of oneness. The vision of the crew is to provide an environment of trust, to inspire and to create an impact in people's lives, he added
This year, the pool prize has been increased from INR 50,000 to INR 70,000 along with trophies and certificates. The winner will be awarded with INR 15,000 cash price along with trophy and certificate while runner-up will receive INR 10,000. There will be a joint third prize for two persons who will be awarded INR 5000 each. Meanwhile, INR 3000 each will be given to most promising player, highest score, best leg, and highest checkout.
The participation slot is limited to 32 players; four groups with eight persons in each group. The match will be played in league basis where two best players from each group will be selected for the knockout round. The semi-final matches will be streamed online via FTC’s social media handles.
The registration, which began on November 14, will be open till December 5. Those interested can register either offline and online by paying INR 1500. A group of 27 friends started FTC in 2015 before it become official in 2018.
