Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): There is a new security vulnerability in Dark Souls 3 that could apparently allow hackers to take control of a user’s PC, according to a Twitter user @SkeleMann and multiple threads on the Dark Souls 3 subreddit forum.
According to Twitter user @SkeleMan, the remote code execution (RCE) exploit works more like a Trojan Horse virus and it can reportedly brick players’ computers, steal data and execute programs in the background.

Hey folks
On PC there is a new, very serious exploit plaguing Dark Souls 3 which can cause lasting damage to your computer.
This could brick your PC, let your login information be shared, or execute programs in the background. 1/?
Unfortunately, the exploit was seen live on Twitch streamer The__Grim__Sleeper’s live stream on Friday. The__Grim__Sleeper’s game crashed about 1 hour 20 minutes into the stream and a Microsoft’s text-to-speech generator started criticizing his gameplay.
You thought DBD leaking IPs was bad?

Now we've seen Dark Souls streamers having scripts run through their PC that can play text-to-speech (and god knows what else).
Lovely stuff, huh. pic.twitter.com/SbBcBORJfi
According to a post on the SpeedSouls’ Discord channel, the hacker reportedly hacked the streamer to raise awareness about the vulnerability. The post states that the hacker reportedly approached Dark Souls developer FromSoftware to inform about the issue but was ignored.
In response to the incident, FromSoftware and its publisher Bandai Namco have temporarily shut down Dark Souls 3 PvP servers to contain the situation.
The company has informed that a team was investigating the issue and it is probably best to stay off the game until an official fix is released.
