DAPCU Mon launches ISHTH campaign in Tobu

Mon District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) has launched the Integrated STI, HIV, TB and Hepatitis (ISHTH) campaign at JACAOA Rehabilitation Centre in Tobu.

DIMAPUR —  Mon District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) has launched the Integrated STI, HIV, TB and Hepatitis (ISHTH) campaign at JACAOA Rehabilitation Centre in Tobu on August 10 with Chubatemjen, additional deputy commissioner of Tobu, as the special guest.

In his short speech, the ADC thanked the Medical department for organising the ISHTH campaign in prisons and other closed settings in creating awareness as well as providing medical services.

He encouraged the participants to have faith and strong determination to heal physically, mentally and spiritually. He further said that one should not discriminate or stigmatise anyone based on their behaviour but rather offer love and care for their well-being.

The programme began with a prayer by Yole, youth associate pastor of Tobu Town Baptist Church, and the keynote address was delivered by Longyim Tzudir, district programme officer of DAPCU, Mon.

Awareness session on Hepatitis, STI, HIV and TB was conducted by Dr. Pangjong, MO of CHC Tobu; Ngamnyei Konyak, counsellor at ICTC; and Loshon Konyak, HIV/TB DOTS supervisor, NTEP, Mon, respectively.

The district ICTC supervisor, Longthrang K, chaired the programme, while Sangti A, programme manager of TI JACAOA, pronounced the vote of thanks.

Later, as part of the campaign, free services like health checkups, free medicines and voluntary screening for STI, HIV, TB and hepatitis were conducted for the clients.
