DAN reiterates position on Naga political issue

Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) legislature party including Independent MLAs have unanimously reiterated its position to pave way in the event of an honourable and amicable settlement arrived at as a result of the ongoing political talks.

The resolution to this effect was taken at the meeting of the DAN legislature party including the Independent MLAs on May 26 at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. In the meeting, the DAN legislature party requested the Government of India to expedite the political dialogue and bring about an amicable solution of the ongoing almost 20 years political dialogue before the scheduled assembly elections in early 2018.

The DAN legislators also unanimously endorsed the view that the chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu should become the member of the Nagaland legislative assembly and work together as a ‘solid team’ to facilitate the same.

In this regards, DAN legislators have appealed the Election Commission of India to conduct the bye-election for the 10 Northern Angami-1 assembly constituency at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the DAN legislators have appreciated those MLAs, who have volunteered to vacate their seats for the chief minister. It has particularly appreciated Khriehu Liezietsu for voluntarily vacating his assembly seat.

The statement was jointly appended by the chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and the DAN chairman TR Zeliang.
