DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 10

Amidst reports that Chief Minister TR Zeliang’s five-month-old government is on a shaky ground because of dissidence among the Naga People’s Front members, the NPF today described the reports propagated by certain sections about leadership struggle within NPF ranks as totally unfounded. The party said the reports have been circulated with an ulterior motive to create confusion in the minds of the legislators and to divide the party.
NPF press bureau in a release today asserted that the NPF under the leadership of Dr Shürhozielie Liezietsu and the DAN legislators under the leadership of Chief Minister TR Zeliang are in safe hands.
“DAN-lll cannot be frittered away at the behest of usurpers, manipulators and mischief makers,” The NPF stated.
The party cautioned that any legislator/s hobnobbing or conniving to destabilize the government will be doing so at his or their own risk and further warned that it will not stand as a mute spectator but will initiate stern disciplinary action against any such party official/s legislator/s. The party further assured not to betray the people who had given it the mandate.
The NPF cautioned party leaders, workers and general public to take these ‘mischievous reports’ with a pinch of salt, the NPF release said. According to reports, NPF-led DAN government has been facing revolt since Zeliang took over the government on May 24 after former chief minister Neiphiu Rio quit following his election to the Lok Sabha.
The NPF also affirmed it stands firm as a political party and is confident of winning people’s support in the next general elections in 2018.
Stating that in a system of democracy, the floor of the elected House is the highest and most sacred platform, the party said it is the platform where every issue and matter relating to the people’s welfare and governance of the State is addressed. As such, persons with firm leadership credentials capable of upholding the people’s trust are chosen to man the House through electoral process, it stated.

NPF Wokha resolves support to party leaders
The NPF Wokha division, along with central leaders from Wokha division held a consultative meeting on November 6 at Wokha and unanimously resolved to support the leadership of the Chief Minister, TR Zeliang and party president, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu.
A press release issued by the NPF Wokha stated that during the meeting, NPF Wokha division I/C Ekymo Kikon urged the party workers not to be swayed by “cheap rumours” that are spreading in the state and reassured that the leadership of the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and party stalwart Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu is undisputed.
The release stated that the house acknowledged Liezietsu’s leadership and endorsed his name to lead the NPF for another term as the president.
Also, the NPF Wokha division expressed its appreciation to the Chief Minister and the Home department for granting two days restricted holiday to Lotha government employees on the occasion of Tokhvu Emong festival.
