Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): Health department in Wokha and Kiphire conducted a three-day Dakshata training for medical personnel at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital in Wokha town and District Hospital Kiphire from June 23 to the 25th.
Addressing the trainees in Wokha, resource person Dr. Azo Louis Kharutsuo explained the meaning of Dakshata, which stands for efficiency in Hindi. He informed that the training aims to make them more efficient as healthcare service providers during childbirth.
An update from the CMO’s office stated that sessions on goals and objectives, quality care in labour room, stages of labour, safe childbirth checklist, triage, safe delivery application, use of partograph to decrease maternal and neonatal mortality rate, bio medical waste management etc. were taken by the resource persons.
It added that pre and post test sessions, practical demonstration of normal delivery, newborn care and new born resuscitation with the use of dummies and mannequins were also imparted to the trainees during the three-day training.
Staff nurses and community health officers from health units across the district participated in the training.
In Kiphire, the training was conducted by Dr. Supongmeren, senior specialist (OBG) from IMDH, Mokokchung, and Dr. Longri Kichu, senior consultant of UNICEF.
The trainees comprised medical officers, community health officers, and nurses.
Altogether, 18 medical personnel attended the three-day training programme. The training concluded with a practical session on objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and neonatal resuscitation.
