DIMAPUR — A three-day district-level DAKSHATA (development of attitude, knowledge, skill for holistic transformation in administration) training for healthcare providers, which was underway at District Hospital Longleng, culminated on Saturday.
Organised by the District Health Society, Longleng, a press release from the office of CMO Longleng stated that the resource person for the training was Dr. S Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP).
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In his address to the trainees, Phom said that the objectives of the training were to improve the quality of maternal and newborn care during the intro and immediate postpartum period by enhancing the competencies and skills of staff working in labour rooms, developing a system of post- training follow up and mentoring, and strengthening the capacity of the facilities and the system to measure the quality of care on a regular basis.
During the three-day training, trainees were given practice demonstrations of normal delivery, newborn care, and newborn resuscitation by skill practice using models and skills checklists, as well as labour room management, prevention, identification, and management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, newborn infections, postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), biomedical waste management, reporting, and recording.
Dr. Tiasunep, CMO Longleng, delivered the closing remarks and presented the trainees with the DAKSHATA trained certificate. Altogether, 15 participants, including staff nurses from District Hospital Longleng and from different health units, attended the training.
