DAKSHATA training for healthcare providers held in Longleng
DIMAPUR — A three-day district level DAKSHATA training for healthcare providers was conducted at District Hospital, Longleng, from September 25 to the 27th.
The resource persons of the training were Dr. Dennis Chingpen, (SMO) OBGY, and Lily Phom, staff nurse, both from District Hospital Longleng, stated a press release from CMO office, Longleng.
The training was aimed at improving the quality of maternal and newborn care and immediate post-partum period by enhancing the competencies and skills of staff working in labour rooms.
The training also focused on developing a system of post- training follow-up and mentoring, strengthening the capacity of the facilities and the system to measure the quality of care on a regular basis.
During the three-day training, pre and post test sessions, demonstration of normal delivery, new born care and new born resuscitation practice using models, labour room management, prevention, identification and management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, new born infections, post partum hemorrhage (PPH), biomedical waste management, reporting and recording were imparted to the trainees.
The training also focused on improving care for mothers and newborns with an aim to reduce maternal and child mortality during childbirth and to provide quality services during delivery.
Mannequins and dummies were used to demonstrate normal delivery.
Dr. Imtijungshi, DPO (RCH/UIP), in his welcome address, spoke on the importance and aims of the training, which is to improve the quality of maternal and new born care during childbirth and after.
The participants included staff nurses, ANM and CHO from health units in Longleng district.
