DAKSHATA training for health workers held in Wokha
DIMAPUR — The District Health Society (DHS), Wokha, organised DAKSHATA training for health workers at the conference hall of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital,Wokha, from March 26 to the 28th.
Resource person Dr. Ayo Tha-o, medical officer at Community Health Centre,Viswema, gave a brief introduction to DAKSHATA and highlighted the importance of ensuring quality care in maternal health.
Dr. Ayo also spoke on normal delivery and active management of the third stage of labour, prevention, identification and management of PPH, organisation of the labour room as per Government of India guidelines, etc., an update from CMO Wokha stated.
Resource person Sorenpeni Lotha, community health officer at Health and Wellness Centre, Pongitong, highlighted on the safe childbirth checklist to improve quality of care, training pregnant women, empowering birth companions, triaging pregnant women, prevention, identification and management of newborn infections, breastfeeding and assisted feeding for newborns.
The resource persons also gave practical demonstrations using dummies and mannequins during the training. The participants included medical officers, staff nurses and community health officers from various health centres in the district.
DAKSHATA is an initiative under the National Health Mission to improve the quality of maternal and newborn care during the intra- and immediate postpartum period through service providers who are competent and confident.
Earlier, Chief Medical Officer,Wokha, Dr. Zubenthung Kikon, welcomed the participants and thanked the DHS team for organising the training to enhance the skills of the service providers in the district.
