CYF plantation drive in Phek district
Kohima, June 11: Responding to the directive of the Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF), the federating units have successfully carried out tree plantation drive in their respective areas in commemoration of the World Environment Day.
Acknowledging the active participation of the federating units towards biodiversity conservation within Chakhesang inhabited areas of Phek district, enforced by CYF under the aegis of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), the CYF stated such effort will go a long way in conserving environment and make the planet earth a better place to live in.
It may be recalled that CYF had earlier directed every youth in their respective areas to plant a tree each in commemoration of World Environment Day.
The CYF lauded Phek deputy commission Murohu Chotso for reiterating a ban on hunting in Phek district.
It may be recalled that Phek DC informed the citizens that, it has brought to the notice of Phek district administration that the unscrupulous citizens in some villages under Phek district have been continuously indulging in hunting till today despite the standing ban order and whereas it is pertaining to the ecological balance in general and wildlife in particular as it will cause to extinction of many species of wild animals in the district and that the killings of wild animals and birds in violation to the standing ban order as well as environmental laws in very serious offence.
DC Phek has strictly restrained the people of Phek district from holding of all kinds of fire arms and air gun of non-fire arms by any person or group of persons for the purpose of hunting in the district with immediate effect and warned that if anybody or group of persons are found in violating this order, they shall be liable to be punished under the provision laid down under the environmental laws and wildlife protection laws .
Further, CYF extended fullest support to Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) for declaring Phek as plastic free, smoking free & eco-friendly town under “Clean Green Operation” initiative.
