CWA conducts selection trial for belt, free style wrestling

DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) conducted selection trial camp for the belt and free style wrestling events for Phek district at Dr. SC Jamir Badminton Stadium, Pfutsero, on Saturday.

The CWA, in an update, informed that the camp was conducted to select wrestlers for the forthcoming Nagaland Olympic Games 2024, scheduled from February 12-17, 2024.

Altogether, 30 wrestlers from all over the district participated where two wrestlers (first and second position holders) from each category were selected to represent Phek district for the Nagaland Olympic Games. The matches were officiated by Vekhriyi Chüzho, Surhoney Soho and Mhasheve Resuh.

List of selected wrestlers

Belt wrestling (Men): 60 kg and below – Rüpfüzo Lase and Ngosa Tünyi; 70 kg and below – Yonuyi Yhobu and Wecho Wetsah; 80 kg and below – Vethozo Lohe and Pozo Kezo; 90 kg and below – Preku Krome and Kuluveyi Puro; 100 kg and below – Serayi Tetseo and Thuputha Hesuh

Belt wrestling (Women): 60 kg and below – Vekhonelu Curhah

Free style wrestling (Men): 70 kg and below – Kusayi and Yonuyi Yhobu

Free style wrestling (Women): 60 kg and below – Vekhonelu Curhah
