Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18 The three-day annual sports meet of the Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur (AKTD), entitled “Autumn Huddle”, drew to a close late Friday evening at the State Stadium in Dimapur with Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Development, Zhaleo Rio as the guest of honor. The three-day sports event saw eight teams compete in the discipline of football, volleyball and field events, with separate categories for boys and girls, except for football. The Parliamentary Secretary exhorted the Ao youth to be conscious of their background as the pioneer tribe “in many things.” “And I have always admired the Aos for the simple fact that you are the pioneers in many things.” He encouraged the Ao youth to act as “catalysts” for unity and peace, particularly in Dimapur. The importance of peace and unity in a place like Dimapur could not be over emphasized, he reasoned. Any attempt at cultivating peace and unity should not be of mere lip service, Zhaleo cautioned. He also advised the participants to identify their preferred discipline of sports and focus only on that particular field.
