In continuation to this office order of March 8, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC shall continue to be enforced in Dimapur town in order to maintain law and order situation with further relaxation from 6 am to 4 pm with effect from March 10 till further notice. According to the order of the district magistrate, schools and other educational institutions to function, business establishments to operate and public and vehicular movement to be allowed.
Dimapur witnesses busy Monday morning
The denizens of Dimapur had a busy Monday morning. ‘Total curfew’ was relaxed for six hours from 6 am on the day. The entire city residents had come out on the roads and streets as people rushed to market places to stock up on domestic supplies. It was a bumper to bumper drive in some areas throughout the 6 hours relaxation period and serpentine queues of vehicles could be seen on the roads.
With the easing of tension in the city, the district administration relaxed curfew for 6 hours. The curfew entered its fourth day on Monday. Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces, however, continued.
However, people faced lot of inconvenience in buying commodities due to the huge rush. P rices of vegetables were also seen sky rocketing by the hour as people tried to grab whatever item their hands could get hold of.
Educational institutions which suffered shutdown for the past few days resumed classes in some places as students clad in school uniforms were seen returning home around 11 am. However, close to the expiry of relaxation of curfew which was till 12 noon, Dimapur denizens were seen rushing to get home creating chaos. The misunderstanding of the imposed prohibitory order under section144 Cr.Pc created more confusion among the people.
