Curfew imposed on Model village areas

Dimapur, September 9 : The Dimapur police have imposed curfew on Model village in Dimapur following reported “critical” tensions following a land dispute. The office of the Dimapur Police Commissioner issued a copy of an order on Friday clamping 144 CR.PC on said area from September 9 to the next 48 hours. “...it is evident that the situation in and around the Model village, Dimapur district is critical with tension arising out of the land dispute between the Model village and Shri R. Sopu Angami & party. And whereas there is apprehension of danger to human lives and property and disturbance to public tranquillity if five or more persons congregate or assemble,” the order stated. Situation has risen which justifies and calls for immediate action to be taken to prevent breach of peace in the land dispute area inside Model village area, the order stated. “Therefore, I Shri P. Sendongmeren, NPS, District Magistrate Commissioner of Police, Dimapur (officiating) do hereby promulgate 144 CR.PC (Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973) (2 of 1974) prohibiting, assembly of 5 (five) or more that 5 (five) persons with effect from 1500 Hrs of 09.09.2016 till the next 48 Hrs,” it stated.
