Cultural extravaganza marks the hornbill festival

Dasho (Sir) Kama Ura, President, Centre for Bhutan Studies and GNH, Government of Royal Kingdom of Bhutan, Status of Ambassador and also Vice- Chairperson of India-Bhutan Strategic Dialogue, inaugurated the cultural function as the honoured guest. As part of the Hornbill Festival different tribes from all over the State performed at Kisama Heritage complex today under the theme “Culturally Yours”, during the inaugural session. Dzulhami Village Cultural Troupe (Chakhesang)-Dzulha Thuye Pheta (Dzulha Festival Dance), Terogvunyu Youth Dengme Cultural Troupe (Rengma)-Construction of Morung & Feast, Kuki Cultural Troupe Inbung (Kuki)-Lom Changtu (Folk Drama), Bhunmnyu Cultural Troupe (Phom)-Indigenous Game, Meluri Cultural Troupe (Pochury)- U-ha (Folk song & Dance), Dimasa Cultural Troupe Dimapur (Kachari) -Bai-Bin (Folk Dance), Chekiye Women Cultural Group Dimapur (Sumi)-Alu Kumula Le (Song of working in the field), Khiamniungan Cultural Club Tuensang Town (Khiamniungan)-Khaotsao Sie and Garo Historical & Cultural Society Dimapur (Garo)-Wangala Dance performed at the function.
Hans Friedrick Schodder, Deputy Chief of Mission UNHER graced the programme as the chief guest in the afternoon session, altogether eight tribes performed at the celebration. Phiro Cultural Club, Wokha Town (Lotha) presented “Shantha” a Folk Dance, Mbaupungwa Village Cultural Troupe of Zeliang a folk song, Aosungkum Cultural Club Mokokchung, Ao tribe demonstrated the traditional way of Grain pounding, Chang-un Cultural Society Tuensang Chang displayed traditional Cultivation Song (Sekmou chemmoubu otuang onut), Saramati Rekhiangpong Dancing Club Salomi Village, Yimchungru demonstrated “Thiri-Ku Lukhi”, beheading of enemies head before the advent of christianity, Tuophema Village Cultural Troupe Angami tribe presented a Folk Song, Longsoh Wotzo Cultural Troupe of Konyak tribe displayed “Pongvin Pu” the Adolesence Graduation Ritual while Phelungre Women Society, Kiphire Town Sangtam, peformed a cultural dance “The Beauty of the Naga”.
