Cultural exchange programme underway at FAC

DIMAPUR — With an objective to strengthen bond and celebrate diversity, a three-day cultural exchange programme between Fazl Ali College (FAC) in Mokokchung and Sherubtse College under the Royal University of Bhutan got underway at FAC on Wednesday.

An update from FAC stated that the first day of the programme was held on the theme “Cultural odyssey: discovering diversity, forging friendships.”

In the introductory session, the opening address was delivered by LS Vinod Kumar, FAC vice principal, where he welcomed the delegates from Sherubtse College. An overview of the programme was delivered by Dr. E Benrithung Patton, FAC assistant professor of Political Science, wherein he expressed the desire to begin lifelong learning and friendship between the institutions with a holistic approach in discovering new horizons.

It stated that Kelzang Namgay, lecturer of Arts and Humanities and coordinator of cultural unit at Sherubtse College, briefly highlighted about the Bhutanese culture, enriched with unique customs, traditions, clothing and values. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to explore and learn in collaboration with Fazl Ali College.

During the programme, a traditional Bhutanese dance ‘Boedra’ was presented by students of Sherubtse College, while a folk fusion song ‘Waro Rang’ was presented by the students of FACSU.

During the session, T Senka Ao, Padmashree awardee, facilitated the cultural workshop at ‘Ketsangriju,’ an indigenous skills training centre.

The evening ended with a hostel campfire nite hosted by FAC hostel committee.
