Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has reminded the Nagaland Public Work Department (NPWD) to terminate backdoor appointment of SO Grade-II employees and provide equal opportunity to all eligible candidates.

CTAN, in a statement issued by its media cell, reminded that it had submitted its first representation to Engineer in Chief of NPWD on February 7, 2019, for immediate termination of illegal appointees (29 SO Grade-II, 7 surveyor, and 7 draftsmen). It also stated that the association had submitted its second representation on November 25, 2019, followed by a peaceful sit-in-protest outside NPWD directorate on December 16, 2019. It further stated that the commissioner and secretary of Work and Housing had convened a meeting with CTAN and Civil Engineers Association of Nagaland (CEAN).

The press release also stated that the deprived technical graduates had agreed upon the proposal placed by the commissioner and secretary for seeking three-month deadline till March 31, 2020. It, however, lamented that no official intimation was received from the department towards the genuine plea put by CTAN and CEAN as on August 20.

CTAN further looked forward to the implementation of assurances given on December 17, 2019, at earliest.
