Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): After the expiry of the 30-day deadline, the Chümoukedima Town Angamimia Mechü Krotho (CTAMK) along with Chümoukedima Town Womens’ Organisation (CTWO), Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) and Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union (CTSU), have given a grace period of one week to the Municipal Affairs department to revoke the alleged illegal appointment of five candidates in the Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC).

The CTAMK, in a press release, stated that on learning about the illegal appointment of five candidates in CTC vide appointment letter dated August 25, 2022, the various Chümoukedima unions had submitted a representation to the Municipal Affairs department on September 6.

CTAMK said the CSOs submitted the representation for cancellation of the appointments as there were no vacant posts and that the five candidates were appointed without following the requisition process of recruitment examination.

“This is a gross violation of the fundamental rights of the citizens and the bodies cannot accept this unfair means of recruitment under any circumstance. Further, for the appointment of grade-IV posts in the district, it has to be filled by the respective indigenous inhabitants of the Chümoukedima district only as per the P&AR notification,” it stated.

It also stated that the CSOs had given 30-day time period to the department to revoke the illegal appointments and to fill any vacancy through open advertisement.

“The thirty days time given has gone unheeded but in good faith the CSOs hereby gives further seven days for the department to terminate the said newly appointed candidates from the date of this notification. Thereafter, if no positive response is received, the CSOs will begin agitation in stages.” it cautioned.
