CSU organises literary-cum-cultural competition

DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) on September 7 organised a literary-cum-cultural competition at the Government Higher Secondary School in Pfutsero town on the theme “Promoting multilingual education: literacy for mutual understanding and peace.”

Addressing the introductory session as the guest of honour, Vezühü Keyho, president of Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), lauded CSU for organising such a meaningful event. He also highlighted the significance of cultural heritage in showcasing identity and underscored the importance of knowing one’s own dialect, which according to him, is fundamental for personal growth.

Keyho encouraged the student community to inculcate a spirit of integrity and also emphasised the need to cultivate a strong work culture as well as prioritise God for a successful life, stated an update from the union.

The CSU president, Pfulo Sara, expressed gratitude to all the participating units for their prompt turnout and support. He emphasised that the event was not just a competition but a celebration of joy and passion, aimed at preserving the vibrant and unique culture of the Chakhesang community.

He stated that the event provided a platform to showcase the artistic, cultural and creative talents of the Chakhesang people. He also highlighted the recently concluded educational tour to 130 government institutions within its jurisdiction and announced plans to visit all private schools in the coming years.

“The CSU remains committed to fostering education and cultural heritage, reinforcing the values of unity, mutual understanding, and peace within the community,” Sara affirmed.

The event witnessed the presence of Medovi Rhi, president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF); P Lohe, sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) of Pfutsero; Zhonelu Tunyi, president of Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA), host of CSU senior members and other dignitaries.

The event was chaired by Mutsivoyi Kotso, tribunal general of CSU, and compered by Kevengo-u Ngotha, Miss Phek 2023, and Luthono Resuh, 2nd runner-up Miss Phek 2022.

Teweu Mero, CBCC education secretary, said the invocation prayer, while a cultural item was performed by members of Lower Khomi Students’ Union.

The programme was marked by various competitions including debate, war cry, quiz, drawing and photography.
