CSU election commission notifies election date, process
KOHIMA — The election commission of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has notified that the election to the CSU executive council and union assembly secretariat for the tenure 2024–2026 will be held on February 2 at 1:00 pm at CSU Conference Hall, Losami village, Phek.
In an update, the commission stated that CSU election commissioner Dode Nakro informed that nomination papers will be issued between 3 pm on January 31 and 12 noon on February 1. The declaration of results and the administration of the oath of allegiance to elected officials will take place on February 2 during the valedictory session of the CSU’s 77th general conference.
Nakro has conveyed that the model code of conduct for the election became effective on January 29 and added that candidates found to be in violation of the established model code of conduct will face disqualification from participating in the election.
The election commission’s decision shall be final and binding in all matters relating to the interpretation of any article of the constitution dealing with the election process and model code of conduct, it stated.
Further, it added that all intending candidates and affiliated units of the CSU have been informed that the nomination of a candidate shall be made by one office bearer from the intending candidate’s unit. The seconded unit for a candidate shall also be done by an office bearer on behalf of that unit.
Nakro mentioned that all units with intending candidates and units that will second a candidate must bring their official seal as well as the official round seal for the upcoming election in 2024.
