Kohima, June 24: Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) detected 25 Inner Line Permit (ILP) defaulters during its first phase verification drive on June 17 and 18 within its jurisdiction and handed over to the district administration for deportation and necessary follow up action. The verification drive was carried out in pursuance to the directive of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).

While undertaking the verification of ILP in order to check the inflow of illegal immigrants within its jurisdiction, the Union felt that the responsibility for checking of illegal immigrants should not be left alone to student bodies, It felt that the public should also play its role in solving the menace of illegal immigrants in their respective jurisdictions.

The Union made a fervent appeal to all the public, especially those guarantors to be more vigil and check necessary documents of non-Nagas before submission of their documents to the administration for processing.

The Union also detected several shortcomings and loopholes from the administration on issuing ILP for which the Union has decided to submit its findings and suggestion to the district administration for better coordination and implementation.

CSU general secretary, Nuvokho Rhakho, informed that the Union would undertake its second phase of checking at any time.
