CSOs to shutdown PWD office, restrict movement of govt. vehicles over foothill road
Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): The Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) and several civil society organisations (CSOs) have resolved to begin its first phase of agitation by shutting down the office of PWD (R&B) Dimapur division and restrict movement of all government vehicles in Dimapur from September 13 if the state government fails to give positive response to their demand by September 12.
This resolution was adopted during the consultative meeting of Dimapur-based tribal hohos, Central Naga Students’ Association (CNSA), Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU), Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), various youth fronts and NFHRCC on Tuesday, according to an update.
The CSOs had earlier given time to the government of Nagaland till September 12 to respond positively to their plea of ‘making the foothill road pliable while awaiting the mega project’, failing which it warned of going ahead with the proposed indefinite agitation from September 13.
The update on Tuesday also informed that the house unanimously resolved to form a core group under the new name “Young Naga Action Committee for Foothills Road” with CNSA as Convenor. The co-convenors of the core group comprised of DENSU, ZSUN, Lotha Youth Organisation, Western Sumi Youth Front and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation.
