Kohima, May 1 (EMN): Personnel from the 78 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) distributed essential commodities to the poor and needy in Kohima on Friday.
The team, led by Assistant Commandant Joseph Hrimai along with subordinate officers and jawans, organised a civic action programme on Friday at Upper PR Hill colony, Kohima, by providing ration items, hand sanitiser, masks and other commodities to the people affected by the nationwide lockdown.
The officer, during a brief interaction with the beneficiaries and leaders, has empathised with the citizens who are undergoing hardship due to the lockdown and asserted that the forces would continue help the people.
He also urged the people to take an active part in the fight against the disease and strictly follow all preventive measures issued by the government for the safety of everyone.
Meanwhile, Hrimai also informed that similar programme was also conducted by the battalion on April 30 where essential commodities were distributed to the residents of Phezoucha village, L-Khel, Kohima.
An update from the unit stated that a total of 1400 kg of rice, 280 kg of dal and other essentials and preventive items were given to the residents in the presence of village and colony leaders.
