Dimapur, Aug. 17 (EMN): A newly constructed cricket concrete practice pitch was inaugurated at St. Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama, by advisor, Technical Education and Elections, Medo Yhokha, on Wednesday.

A DIPR report stated that Yhokha in his address expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) for having the dreams and visions, and initiating hope and aspirations to the younger generation. While congratulating NCA for choosing SJC (A) as one of its partners, he hoped that players from the college will be inducted to NCA in the near future.

Yhokha encouraged the gathering to have positive outlook and also stated that the time has come for Nagas to start scripting their own stories.

Honorary secretary, NCA, Hyunilo Anilo Khing, expressed happiness that the college has been chosen as a partner for development of the game and to take cricket further.

He said that in the present fast-paced world, sports is not only a discipline, but a multi-billion industry which brings people, communities and nations together. Though the game of cricket is not new to the people of the state, it is very young professionally, he said.

Khing stressed on the need to polish, guide and help players to come up to the national and international levels. He also informed that NCA has constructed concrete practice pitches in all the districts of the state and even in some sub-divisions and institutions which, he said, is the initiative of the state government.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Binoy Joseph, administrator, SJC (A) offered led the dedicatory prayer, it stated.
