MOKOKCHUNG — The Christian Residential Higher Secondary School (CRHSS) at Artang Ward in Mokokchung town celebrated its 25th anniversary on Friday, marking a significant milestone in its journey of educational service.

Founded in 1999 by late Rev. Dr. Chuba Ao and his wife, Tiala Ao, the school has grown from humble beginnings into one of the prominent educational institutions in the district.

Dr. Cynthia Walker from the United States, a close associate of the school, unveiled the jubilee monolith and delivered a powerful message on the theme “Proclaiming the year of the Lord’s favour.”

Dr. Walker highlighted the importance of living a life of sacrifice saying, “God values the sacrifices of the heart most. We are all called to be living sacrifices to the Lord.”

Tiala Ao, co-founder of CRHSS, recounted the divine vision that led to the founding of the school. She narrated how, during a time of prayer, a group of Americans visited Mokokchung, and together, they received a vision of a paddy field with the words “Let the little children come to me” written above it.

This vision, according to Tiala, was a clear sign from God to serve the children of the region, which led her and her husband to establish the school in 1999.

“It was through this divine calling that we dedicated ourselves to the mission of education, with faith guiding us every step of the way,” she said.

Reflecting on the school’s growth over the past two decades, Dr Sentila Ao, principal of Nagaland Baptist College (NBC), who has closely witnessed the school’s development, expressed awe on the changes taken place since its inception.

“If we look back to how this school was when we first founded it and compare it to today, it’s almost unbelievable. This is God’s blessing,” she said.

Ati Mongro, chairman of Artang Ward, highlighted the achievements of the school, including an Ao Subject Topper in the HSLC exams in 2021 and a Top 12 ranking in the same exams.

CRHSS has also been recognised for its excellent teaching staff, with several teachers receiving district and state-level awards for their contributions to education.

The event also saw the participation of international guests including Geoff Naylor and Rev. Martin Poole, both from the UK, who delivered speeches and an invocation prayer respectively.

In 2022, the school opened its higher secondary section and its name was changed from Nagaland Christian Residential School to Christian Residential Higher Secondary School. The school has remained true to its core mission of imparting Christian values, retaining the name ‘Christian’ as a testament to its foundation.
