DIMAPUR—The Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) has condemned the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) for engaging in a gunfight within the group in a public place, as new cracks surface.

An update made available to this newspaper informed that KUM, Naga Yuya, Naga Students Organisation (Myanmar) and Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) had been tirelessly negotiating and brokering peace between the cadres of Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) at General Headquarters (GHQ) and Council Headquarters (CHQ) that are trying to split, since April this year.

However, the group from CHQ started attacking those from GHQ by firing “in the Nyanching field” on Monday, June 5 at 3 pm, which continued till 4 pm, stated the update. No casualties were reported from the firing, it added.

Owing to this development, the Konyak public has appealed to the group to restrain from fighting and listen to the public voice. If any group ignores the public appeal, none cooperation will be declared against such faction, it warned.

The KUM also urged the civil society organisations to condemn the fighting within the Naga family which creates fear psychosis among the people.
