CPO warns against hampering two-lane project

Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has issued a warning against elements that are said to be causing disturbances to a two-land road project. The CPO noted that some elements had been issuing threats, and extorting from labours and, in a previous incident, even having kidnapped an engineer. The CPO issued a press release on Wednesday stating caution against impeding development work meant for the community. The CPO has unanimously resolved to ‘stand firm that the present 2-lane road project be completed within a stipulated period,’ the press release stated. “Some recent incidents leading to the kidnapping of engineer is strongly condemned and also demanding cash from the labours will not be tolerated nor allow such devilish elements to jeopardize for posterity,” the organisation stated. “However any demand or threats are to be intimated to appropriate body and law enforcing agencies. To abandon the project by the construction company without any valid reason or reports CPO will seriously dealt with it. CPO also wants to makes a clarion call to any group of factions not to hamper the project for we cannot afford to get such opportunity in future.” The organisation also iterated resolutions that it stated was approved during the CPO’s extended executive council meeting that was conducted in Phek town. “To protect the interest and welfare of the affected villages, CPO will extend its support for any beneficial prospect which are due to them. Quality of work must be maintained at all cost by the contractors as per the DPR guidelines. CPO and its committee shall continue to extend full support and cooperation to all the agencies till its completion,” the press release stated.
