CPO, Vision Spring Foundation eye care camp concludes

CHOZUBA — Having successfully screened over 7000 beneficiaries, a 72-day eye care camp organised by the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), in collaboration with Vision Spring Foundation, concluded in Chozuba village on Saturday.

The camp, which began on August 19 in Chakhesang-inhabited areas of Phek district, primarily focused on weavers and artisans covering all villages over a 72-day period.

Speaking at the culmination programme, Rumon Konwar, team leader of Vision Spring Foundation, informed that its India headquarters based in Noida, had collaborated with the CPO and conducted extensive eye OPD screenings in phases starting from the Phek area, followed by Pfütsero and concluded in Chozuba sub-division.

Konwar was accompanied by Akashdeep Sharma, Ajit Nayak and Pallab Samanta.

The team leader reported that 7,000 individuals received eye check-ups, with 5,200 cases requiring glasses due to refractive errors, particularly among artisans and weavers. He added that about 500 patients had cataracts, glaucoma or other eye diseases.

Konwar expressed gratitude to the CPO for their logistical support and looked forward to collaborate with the community in future.

Meanwhile, CPO president, Vezuhu Keyho, congratulated the Vision Spring Foundation for successfully completing the project in Phek district and acknowledged their sacrifice, dedication and commitment to serving the people.

He also recognised Dr Sophy Lasuh Kesiezie, filmmaker and researcher, and Nokho Nyekha, general secretary of Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF), for connecting the Vision Spring team with the CPO to collaborate in the philanthropic endeavour.

Keyho also mentioned that the ambulance provided under the MPLADP by Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir, would be available for public use and encouraged people to make the best use of the facility.

Among others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Sophy Lasuh, chairman of Chozuba Town Council (CTC) Sevonyi Keyho, president of Chozuba Range Public Organisation (CRPO) Velapra Shijoh, and chairman of the Chozuba Village Council Dusapra Nyekha.

CPO vice president, Vecuto Dozo, informed that 7,000 individuals were screened and 5,557 spectacles were distributed across the Chakhesang area. In the Chozuba range alone, 1,577 individuals were screened and 1,274 spectacles were issued.
