CPO leads in nationwide cleanliness drive

DIMAPUR — In line with the nationwide cleanliness initiative, the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) took the lead in organising a social work at the deputy commissioner’s complex in Chümoukedima on Wednesday.

A DIPR report stated that the cleanliness drive was received with support from various stakeholders including the Chumoukedima Circle Chakhroma Public Organisation (CCCPO), the dedicated staff of DC’s office and the village council members within its jurisdiction. The event saw the active participation of approximately 200 volunteers.

The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Chümoukedima, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, represented the district administration and expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to CCCPO and all the participants for their invaluable time and dedicated service in making the event a success.

He stated that such collective efforts would contribute significantly to improving the overall cleanliness and aesthetics of the communities.

In another programme, PHED Kohima rural and urban division, in collaboration with Sanitation and WSSO, PHED, conducted a mass cleaning drive at Naga Heritage Village-Kisama on Wednesday.

The cleanliness drive was attended by members of Phesama village council, Phesama WATSAN committee, Phesama Youth Organisation, Phesama Students’ Union along with various concerned citizens.

The event was attended by E Mhonbemo Patton, principal secretary of PHED, and Repang Longkumer, chief engineer (HOD) PHED, along with various departmental officials.  

In a related programme, the Nzau Namsan Village Council (NNVC), in collaboration with the Nzau Namsan students and youth organisation, organised a social work on September 27.

The social work was conducted from Nrailong Npai to Nzau Namsan village in Peren district. The social work activities included the repair of potholes and the clearance of overgrown vegetation along a stretch of 6 kilometres.

It stated that approximately 70 enthusiastic volunteers from the village came together to take part in the social work. It added that the mobilisation of jungle clearance efforts was jointly organised and executed by the students’ union and the village council of Nzau Namsan.

Meanwhile, the Home department informed that Nagaland would take part in the mega cleanliness drive on September 30 at 10 am instead of the designated date (October 1), on account of the day falling on a Sunday.

The respective deputy commissioners have been designated as nodal officers for planning, taking necessary measures, and coordinating with all the ULB administrators for the urban areas and all the BDOs for the rural areas. District officers of other departments are asked to ensure the successful execution of the cleanliness drive in their respective districts.
