CP Dimapur issues traffic regulation

Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN): Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rothihu Tetso has issued new traffic regulations on non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chümoukedima town with effect from October 5 to the 31st.

According to the notification, vehicles with registration numbers ending with odd numbers (1,3,5,7 and 9 would be allowed to ply only on every Monday Wednesday and Friday, while the vehicles with registration numbers ending with even numbers (2,4,6,8, and 0) would be allowed to ply only on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

A press release from DIPR stated that the restrictions would not be enforced on Sundays, while it has also exempted the category under essential services as notified earlier.

It also stated that government servants on bonafide duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services in Covid-19 related duties would also be exempted from the purview of the restrictions on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. Two wheelers have also been exempted from the traffic restrictions.

The report also stated that all heavy vehicles except those engaged in four-lane construction work with valid permit would be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9 am to 3 pm. It warned that violation of the aforementioned order would be penalised U/S 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988.

The district police chief has appealed to all the citizens for co-operation in the interest of public safety.
