Covid care centre at Chümoukedima activated

Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): With the rise in the number of Covid cases, the Covid Care Centre at Chümoukedima has been activated, while the contract tracing team has undertaken random testing in various locations in Dimapur.

This was informed by the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, Dr. Mereninla during the meeting of Dimapur district task force held in the DC’s office conference hall on April 21. Observing that many returnees do not report to the appropriate authority on their arrival, the CMO impressed upon the DTF members for taking strong active measures to ensure that the returnees report to CMO’s office or the DTF as per government’s directive, a DIPR report stated.

Also speaking at the meeting the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, has lauded the support and cooperation rendered by civil societies, NGOs, churches and the DTF and sought for their continued support to fight the 2nd wave pandemic with collective effort.

Rajesh said, “Any restrictions will definitely be inconvenient but in the overall public interest, all have to bear the little inconveniences to avoid total lockdown scenario.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Rothihu Tetseo, urged upon one and all to take responsibility for successful implementation of the restrictions.

The medical superintendent of District Hospital Dimapur, informed that unlike last time, 50 out of the total 100 beds are dedicated for Covid cases while the remaining 50 beds would be dedicated for non Covid cases. He also informed that the hospital has enough oxygen cylinders and life saving medicines.

He informed that currently 14 Covid patients are admitted in the District Hospital adding one patient has been discharged on request.

The district immunisation officer, Dr. Rebecca, while highlighting on the Covid vaccination status of Dimapur district, informed that as on April 20, a total of 35731 beneficiaries have been registered, while a total of 46787 doses were administered in 52 session sites.

She also informed that a total of 2722 beneficiaries have visited the Covid vaccination centres on April 20. Dr. Rebecca further informed that presently 4790 doses are available in the district adding the vaccination would be conducted at the session sites only till April 22.

“We are in constant touch with the state so that the district don’t fall short of vaccines,” she added.
