Covid-19 recovery outnumbers fresh cases in Manipur

Manipur on Friday reported 1,105 recoveries taking the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases to 48,902 with a recovery rate of 83.21 percent.

The newly recovered patients were from two hospitals, Covid care facilities including 464 from home isolation facilities, a health department press release said.

Meanwhile, the state on Friday reported total fatalities of 19 Covid-19 patients taking the state’s death toll to 944, it stated. Imphal West reported seven deaths, three each from Thoubal, Imphal East and Churachandpur, and one each from Bishnupur, Kamjong and Ukhrul districts.

The state recorded 687 fresh Covid cases out of 7,820 samples tested in the last 24 hours taking the state’s total infection tally to 58,768 besides decreasing the total number of active cases to 8,922, it said.

The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and the maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (231), Imphal East (156) and Churachandpur (64) districts.

As of Friday, 6,84,815 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 8,00,223 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state

Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 141 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 46,900 was also collected as fine.

On the other hand, the state has so far given 5,38,943 anti-Covid jabs including first dose to 4,57,635 and second dose to 81,343.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 64,623 while 1,47,912 frontline workers received both doses.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,53,205 people between 45-59 years and 94,057 people above 60 years besides 79,146 people between 18-44 years.
