Kohima, March 24 (EMN):
The state nodal officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Prevention (IDSP), Dr. Nyanthung Kikon, has appealed to the people not to panic or be misled by rumours.

Kikon in an interaction with journalists said that despite the lockdown in several parts of the country, the essentials and kits such as personal protective equipment and required consignment would be delivered on time to the people of the state.

In the absence of a testing facility and people’s concerns about the same, Kikon maintained that having such a centre requires certain protocol concerning bio-safety level.

He informed that the state did not have the requisite bio-safety level two and three and added, “At the moment, we don’t have the infrastructure, so we are sending the samples either to Guwahati, Imphal and Dibrugarh.”

He also refuted rumours of people running away from isolation ward and appealed to all citizens not to spread unverified news.

Kikon further urged citizens to stay indoors and informed people coming from outside to self-quarantine for the safety of their family and others.
