KMC to promote home delivery service

Our Correspondent
Kohima, March 26 (EMN):
To facilitate home delivery of essential goods such as groceries, food items and medicines to citizens, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has decided to provide special permit to Last Mile Delivery (LMD) start-ups/firms with valid KMC trade license operational in Kohima

The council issued notice on Thursday inviting interested persons to apply for it by sending an email to kmc.kohima@gmail.com.

Applicants were asked to “attach scanned copy of valid license and self-attested declaration to comply with hygiene and sanitisation protocols such as zero contact with customer, use of masks and gloves which need to be replaced after every delivery along with sanitisation of the products”.

Administrator of KMC, Kovi Meyase told Eastern Mirror that they will start the service as soon as possible. At the time of filing this report, the KMC had received three applications.

“As long as the pricing is okay and precautionary measures are taken, we will see that we facilitate them to do this,” he said.

Meyase also informed that there is no fixed deadline for applications and therefore they can apply as long as they are interested.

“We are trying to facilitate the public so that they do not come out, and social distancing is maintained as far as possible,” he added.

The administrator further informed that one group of respondent is willing to start immediately but “we have to first ensure, verify and ascertain that the precautionary measures are properly followed because of the crisis that we are facing now”.
