Covid-19: Nagaland extends total lockdown till June 11
Nagaland government first imposed total lockdown from May 14 to the 21st before extending twice
Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has announced extension of total lockdown in the entire state by 11 days, till June 11 amid Covid-19 positive cases continuing to remain high over the last two weeks despite restrictions in place.
The order issued by Chief Secretary J Alam stated that “the state government is satisfied that the existing lockdown measures are required to continue in order to break the chain and prevent the spread of Covid-19”.
“Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22 (2) (6) and Section 22 (2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the undersigned, in the capacity as Chairperson, State Executive Committee, hereby order the extension of the existing guidelines with regard to the Lockdown to remain operative in Nagaland till 11th June 2021,” read the order.
It may be mentioned that the state government first imposed total lockdown from May 14 to the 21st in view of the surge in new Covid cases both in the country and the state, before it was extended to May 31, and now to June 11.
