Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): In view of the hardships caused by the nationwide lockdown, district administration and civil societies have been distributing essential commodities to the to the poor and daily wage earners for the past few days.
An update from Manjong, I/A, Longleng informed that distribution of relief materials began three days ago and would continue for a few more days. In Tamlu sub-division, the district administration and the sub-divisional task force on Covid-19 gave away essential commodities to 23 migrant labourers and 78 local wage earners on Monday, it added.
The Sakhi One Stop Centre and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) in collaboration with the district administration, Longleng visited old aged people and widowed households on Sunday and distributed free relief items and face masks. Sanitary pads were also given to young females, it informed.
The Housing department of Longleng has also started construction of temporary toilets for the coronavirus patients on Monday at the makeshift quarantine facility located at Lempong School, Longleng.
