Imphal, May 3 (EMN): All the 92 stranded individuals who arrived here from Guwahati (87) and Mizoram (5) have been tested and all are Covid-19 negative, officials said in Imphal on Sunday.

Informing this, Additional Director and spokesperson Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang of the Manipur Health Department in a press release issued on Sunday said that as per protocol, they will be sent to their home after adequate counselling for strict adherence to quarantine rules.

It may be mentioned that 87 stranded residents who were stuck at Manipur Bhavan in Guwahati since the imposition of nationwide lockdown on March 25, were transported back to Manipur by using four special buses on May 2.

On their arrival at Mao, a hill station situated between Manipur-Nagaland border and located about 110 km north of Imphal, they were screened and none of them showed any symptoms of the disease.

Later they were evacuated to a government centre near Imphal where they were tested for Covid-19 by the state health workers.

The state health and family welfare minister L Jayentakumar also visited them and appealed to follow the government guidelines.

The inmates at the state government designated quarantine centre at the border area of Mao gate, were provided cooked food items which include rice, egg, chicken and dal and packaged water bottles, according to a press release issued by publicity secretary Bosco of NMSYO.

The entire operation of providing the cooked food items was conducted as per the government guidelines of social distancing, wearing mask, using hand gloves and washing of hands with soap and cleaning with hand sanitisers.

A total of 18 inmates including three female belonging to different parts of the state were presently stationed at the quarantine centre since April 20 onwards, as per the reports.

NMSYO officials also expressed gratefulness to Sub-Divisional Officer Mao Songsong, Duna and Officer in Charge Jonah Chawang of Mao Police station who are taking care of the centre, for accepting the humble gesture of the organisation.
