Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): The Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Mizoram have celebrated its 49th raising day on May 1 with a plethora of events which started from April 28 onwards. Governor of Mizoram, Nirbhay Sharma was the chief guest of the event. During his visit, the Governor was shown various state-of-the-srt training facilities and infrastructure, which were in the school for conduct of contemporary counter terrorist training.
The festivities included cultural and ceremonial functions followed by a special address from commandant Maj Gen MS Ghura, SM, VSM to the staff and instructors. While interacting with the members of the sports club, commandant spoke on the importance of sports in an over-all development of individual and in turn contributes toward building an ideal society.
As part of its contributions to nation building efforts of Indian Army, the CIJWS staff utilised the occasion to plant more than 200 medicinal trees in the school premises.
The press release stated that over the years, the school has evolved into a ‘unique world-class’ institution with state-of-the-art infrastructure and training facilities. It added that, the institution imparts counter terrorism training to combatant of Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces, and Para Military Forces, and State Police.
‘The school also boasts of a global imprint with soldiers and contingents of more than 48 countries undergoing regular training here. Most of these countries are actively involved in counter terrorism operations in their homelands,’ the press release informed.
