Dimapur, May 6: A new counselling center christened Joyous Life Professional Counselling Centre was inaugurated on May 6 at Police Colony in Dimapur.
The proprietor of the centre and counselling psychologist, Vivi Zhimomi said only after she learned about mental illness and the importance of helping to work toward its remedy, she pursued the dream of opening a counselling centre.
With a Master’s degree in Psychology from South Korea, besides other qualifications, Zhimomi expressed the hope to bring change to those who are suffering.
“I want to bring awareness about mental illness and its existence in the society,” Zhimomi said. She added that emotional illnesses can be remedied and must be tackled.
Citing the example of the current generation of youths in Nagaland, she said they have been exposed to many negative environments and indulgence which have led to confusion.
“Psychiatrists are misinterpreted and society thinks we work only with the ‘crazy’ ones; but that is not the case, they are just confused, depressed or just needs some guidance,” Zhimomi said.
A message was given by executive secretary of the WSBAK, Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi.
