Dimpaur, August 18 (EMN): The enforcement officers and the Flying Squad officials for the enforcement of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act comprising of police personnel of Kohima South Police station and health workers conducted surprise checks today at shops in Kohima located near educational institutions.
“The Enforcement Officers and Flying Squad Officials of COPTA Kohima comprising of police personnel from South Police Station and Health & Family Welfare Department have conducted surprise checking at the shops located near Educational Institutes within South Police Station jurisdiction,” stated the pres s release from Atu Zumvü the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South) & PRO.
During the checks a total of 27 shopkeepers were challenged and fine imposed for selling tobacco products at the vicinity of the educational institutions.
The tobacco products seized from their possession were forwarded to the court of CJM Kohima along with a report.
