Dimapur, Aug. 2: The corpse of a girl was recovered from the forest of Gaili village in Peren district on Thursday.
The president of Northern Zeme Youth Organisation (NZYO) Kiepeube Zehuny informed Eastern Mirror that the girl, approximately 22 years of age from Punglwa village in Peren, went missing a day prior to the discovery of the corpse.
Further investigation is currently underway, informed the president.
The NZYO, in a press release, expressed shock at the “barbaric and heinous” crime committed within the area of Northern Zeme.
Such acts should be condemned by every section of the society, it stated.
The organisation has urged the law-enforcing agency to ‘look into the matter’ and book the culprit at the earliest.
