KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 28

THE Dihoma Village Youth Organisation (DVYO) has condemned what it called ‘beastly act’ of the uniformed personnel against their own comrade, who is serving as a constable under 4th NAP and a bonafide citizen of Dihoma village on September 25.DVYO president Khrieliezo Tsűkrű and information & publicity secretary Zhavizo Yashü said OC Traffic, North Police Station, Kohima, Thepfusalie Thomas physically assaulted the victim Lhouvizo Yano beyond the degree of torture for a mere offence of traffic rules violation while parking his car on the roadside on that fateful day at High School area Kohima.
They alleged that the OC on duty manning the traffic on the day took the victim to lock-up. He not only kept the constable behind the bars but manhandled him beyond imagination, including in his private parts, making him unconscious in the North PS.
Such an inhuman act from a uniformed officer was extremely uncalled for and unexpected as he was penalising his own subordinate more than a hardcore criminal, the DVYO maintained.
They also regretted that the brutality of the OC was more grievous as he did not listen to humble pleas made by the victim’s wife and family, but remanded him in the custody for almost two-days.
The victim was released only after the intervention of Adjutant of the 4th NAP Bn following a requested by the victim’s wife, they said.
Consequent upon the severe injuries due to the brutality, atrocities and high handedness of Thepfusalie Thomas, the victim is undergoing serious medical treatment at Civil Hospital Kohima, the DVYO stated.
In this regard, the DVYO has urged upon the authority concerned to award befitting punishment to Thepfusalie Thomas at the earliest so as to avoid further unwanted confrontations.
