Coordination meeting held for Lok Sabha polls in Chümoukedima
DIMAPUR — In anticipation of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election, a coordination meeting-cum-EVM demonstration for sector officers and sector commanders was held on Thursday at the DC conference hall in Chümoukedima.
According to a DIPR report, the assistant electoral registration officer (AERO) and additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Chümoukedima, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, and the ADC of Medziphema, James Swu, highlighted the rules and responsibilities of sector officers and sector commanders.
They instructed the officers to coordinate with each other and directed them to physically visit their respective polling stations to ensure that all necessary facilities for conducting the voting process smoothly are in place. Additionally, they emphasised the importance of being well-equipped to handle the EVM.
Further, they requested the officers not to skip any training related to the election and directed them to ensure friendly infrastructure accessibility for PwDs (persons with disabilities) and senior citizens. They instructed the officers to plan for separate entry and exit points at the polling stations for these groups. Additionally, they informed them to submit a report before March 5 if there are any infrastructure issues or any other election-related concerns.
The meeting also included discussions on election activities, election management plans, route mapping, vulnerability mapping, etc. SDO (C) Chumben Murry demonstrated the EVM setup and the functioning of each unit, providing detailed information about EVMs. He also informed interested officers that hands-on demonstrations are available any day at the DC and DEO office in Chümoukedima at the election branch.
