THE department of Tourism with an objective to serve a purpose for the public inaugurated the ongoing construction of ‘Convention Centre’ at Agri Expo site with parliamentary secretary for Justice & Law, Jacob Zhimomi as the chief guest.
Jacob Zhimomi in his speech expressed that the inclusion of the convention at the site will be an additional benefit to both the tourists and the general public as the site is one of the major tourist attraction where major events and programmes are being held all year round.
He also anticipated that through the centre ‘unity and oneness among the Naga people will be generated’ as people from all over the state will utilize the centre by coming under one roof through meetings and discussions involving all political, social or religious gathering connecting various tribes and communities.
Expressing that the Nagas are very careless in maintaining the government and public property, the parliamentary secretary appealed the general public to make the best use of the facilities provided with a sense of belongingness.
Executive Engineer, Tourism Department, Er. Toba Angami presented the technical report during the inaugural programme.
The centre has a restaurant and kitchen attached with it and the land for the construction, which is donated by the Agriculture Department, was sanctioned in the year 2012.
