Kohima, Dec. 14 (EMN): The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) and members of the Kohima Town Pastors’ Fellowship (KTPF) celebrated advent Christmas, besides hosting a felicitation programme for traffic police with the ‘best traffic award,’ on December 14 in Kohima.

The speaker of the evening was the president of the KTPF Dr. Kevichalie Metha. In his message, the church leader talked about the omnipotence of God, and about serving society, and that service to man is service to God.

The pastor lamented the Naga society to be lacking the quality of appreciation, and that they criticise more. He urged the people to acknowledge the service of one another. He wondered if the Naga people are celebrating Christmas without Jesus Christ and without being distracted by the things around.

“Is Hornbill (Festival; an annual cultural festival of Nagaland) taking the place of Christmas?” he queried, referring to the attendance of people in other events and social obligations.

Metha asked the gathering not to be blinded by businesses and other activities but to celebrate Christmas in a different way centred on Christ.

The president of the KTPF told the gathering to let this Christmas be inclusive and one that is in the aid of the weak and the less privileged, welcoming Christ in their life and homes like the Magi in the Bible did.

The president of the NCSU, Pele Khezhie, greeted the gathering with Christmas and New Year wishes. He stated that the organisation was established in the year 1975 with more than 5000 members from across the districts.

Khezhie said the Naga people are sharply divided. However, the NCSU remains one, for which he acknowledged God.

The deputy superintendent of Kohima Traffic, Manom Wallim, also spoke at the event. He urged the gathering to follow the life of Christ. The official appreciated the services of the NCSU in the development of society.

Wallim called upon the people to introspect and to repair the society with humility and honesty.’

During the programme, the ‘best traffic award’ was presented to policewoman Lenghokyu Sangtam and policeman Toki Sangtam. The award was initiated by the NCSU.
