Dimapur, August 22 : The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has demanded open tenders for every contract and supply work in Nagaland.

The organization issued a press release on Monday.

“It has come to our notice that various departments are awarding contract and supply works through table tender, without inviting open tender. Such practices are illegal and total violation of norms and objectives of the state government,” the union stated in the press release.
“Hence, immediately stop such practices and cancel all the work order issued through table tender and call for fresh open tender to invite all the eligible contractors, in open competition.”

The union lamented that in spite of the repeated representations to the state government and that all the departments strictly implement the government’s standing order, “only NCSU registered identity card holders are eligible for the tender.”

The NCSU also said to have deputed its members to all the heads of departments to “ensure govt order.”

“Moreover the (NCSU) head office Kohima directed all the district unit (NCSU) Dimapur, Peren, Wokha, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire, Phek, Zunheboto to check all the head of department in their respective district and submit report to the head office for further necessary action,” it explained.

The union has requested its district units to ‘check those who have dual registration in other unions.’

Also, any contractor, firm or company that is without valid identity cards from the NCSU ‘will be dealt with stern action,’ it added.
