Contraband and gold biscuits seized by AR

Imphal, July 28 (EMN): In a major haul, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles seized a huge cache of contraband heroin, worth INR 1.29 crores in international market during a routine checking on Imphal – Moreh sector of the National Highway (NH 102) of Manipur on Friday, according to Assam Rifles sources.
Acting on specific information, a Eeco Van (MN02B 4199) was intercepted at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal District by a team of Tengnoupal Battalion, PRO Assam Rifles (South) said when contacted on Saturday. During the search the security personnel found approximately 258 gms of drugs concealed (inside cigarette packets) in the vehicle.

The passenger was taken into custody by Assam Rifles, it added. The seized items and the apprehendee identified as one Haulunching Zou (25) of Moreh were handed over to Moreh police station. In the past one year contraband drugs worth approximately around INR 69.46 crores have been seized by 26 Sector of the Assam Rifles stationed in the state.
